Supporting Success in Education

Yesterday 3 members at Pleasant Point Primary School met to discuss the Discussion Paper 01/10
our biggest issues are 1) Where do the extra hours and money required to pay/service the extra work required to get these "failing children" up to standard come from? All our hours have been cut due to financial constraints of the school as it is now without the added "benefits" of National Standards. 2) If more adminsitrative work is required that = less child time that = more disadvantaged children - isn't that a vicious circle?

Elaine. I totally agree with you, it is a vicious circle, perhaps one day the Govt may wake up to what mayhem they are causing. The funding issue is continually raising its head in many of the discussions, it certainly did at my school
Perhaps the Government will use the $350,000 they take from our subs... that might work out to $25 per student. But seriously, this just reaffirms what a waste of time and money the National Standards are. We do already know which children need our help - what we do need are the resources to provide that help. More hours, instead of fewer!
