"Good on you Eileen. Te Puke Branch had a gathering in a private home after school which was funded by NZEI - Drinks and nibbles. Taking it away from the school environment makes the conversation a lot more social but in saying that it is…"

New National Standards Reporting

I am not sure how much has been added to the administration staff work load at other schools through the new reporting system instigated as a result of National Standards but my word load has increased considerably.I have spent a full 8 days (8am - 4:00pm) setting up data base information listing children (Our school roll is 430) in their appropriate age levels for reporting to parents. I have also been involved in setting up new report forms so teaching staff are able to report to  parents at…See More

John Key does himself no favours!

How disappointing that John Key has decided to try to split members of the NZEI by taunting teachers to share their pay rise or forgo their pay rise, (How come they are getting one? Are they not members of the State Sector?) to give a portion to Support Staff in their schools. This is both degrading teachers and also Support Staff.I need to point out that MP's who are receiving a housing allowance are receiving more housing allowance than my annual income!!While I respect MP's and the work they…See More

Fair Deal Day

At Fairhaven, the Support Staff wore their `Fair Deal' t.shirts and I blew up 60 pink balloons. I was lucky - and elated to go into Woolworths at 7am on Friday morning and see that they stocked packets of just pink balloons! I was going to buy packets of mixed colours and sort out the pink ones. I would have had to buy lots of packets, so you can imagine how happy I was that they had pink packets in stock! Then I puffed and screamed all the hot air that I had, and blew up all 60 of them. I…See More

It's been done! Anne is aware!

A big `Thank you' to Principal Paul Hunt, who kindly presented the letter, blogged earlier, to The Honorable Anne Tolley. It was fortunate that I have very big ears, and overheard that she would be visiting the Principals in the Te Puke area, and quickly took advantage of that time. I gathered up all of the signatures that I have received so far from Te Puke schools and popped them in the envelope, along with the letter. Paul presented the envelope to her as she was leaving their meeting. Thanks…See More

"I love it, I hope this sort of action will spread as fast as the swine flu!! It will get to the stage where MP's will be so sick of us so just to get rid of us they will come back with a reasonable offer that we can all work with. Oink Oink!! :)"

Meeting with the MP - the Honorable Mr Tony Ryall. August 7 Action

24th July:I took two Support Staff NZEI members with me! We drove quietly up to the MP's offices and were hoping to get a parking place within the confines of his office........To present the last Petition, my fellow Support Staff person and I parked right in on the lawn of the MP's offices - a lovely old house converted to office space. It was a beautiful day and we were a little ahead of schedule, so we parked in the grounds and sat enjoying the sun. After a while we noticed that we were…See More
