"Talk tio your branch about funding for an even too.  All branches should have money put aside for events such as this, even invite non members as they are prospective members and can join up when they see the collegiality that exsists within…"

"I hadn't thought of asking other schools about joining together.  We have a few local primary schools around us.  Thank you Linda :)"

"Hi Eileen.  We have been holding SS Day functions in the branch for a number of years now and have had some great success.  We started things off with an afternoon tea about 8 years ago and moved on as numbers swelled.  We have used a…"

"Good on you Eileen. Te Puke Branch had a gathering in a private home after school which was funded by NZEI - Drinks and nibbles. Taking it away from the school environment makes the conversation a lot more social but in saying that it is…"

"Hi Eileen How wonderful that you are planning so far in advance! For most Support Staff around the country, this is a day where they get some well deserved recognition from their colleagues.  Many schools put morning tea on.  I know of…"

Support staff day

I know with meetings that this is not on people's minds.  However as a new work site rep, I am in planning stages and want to know what your schools do for you (or do you do it yourselves) on Support Staff day? Would be interesting to hear a few ideas.   We had lunch at a pub bristro once and morning teas a time or two ... looking for 'fresh' ideas.  Last year was a total washout so I'm forward planning.:)  See More

Hi Ellen, Ann Hoglund here, I am at Kaiapoi North School, our branch hosts a Support Staff breakfast which the branch subsidise, ususally about 100 people attend (Ashley Branch).

Christchurch Branch usually host a dinner, although I don't know what the plan will be this year.

Worksites - the teachers usually acknowledge the SS - the children make cards, the staff sometimes put on morning tea, some worksites give their SS a little treat.

Every worksite is so different - depends on your staff.

Have a good day
