From success reading that, she has now progressed to reading books without the graphics.Clicker programme (programme for computers that assist in the learning)at school has meant that a child who was not engaging at all in his learning is now rushing to get into the class room and work on the programme. Next steps are to get him enthusiastic about writing.Autistic child had to be taken every where and is…See More

Support Staff seminar - Dunedin

Here in Dunedin we have 12 dedicated Support Staff meeting for the day discussing Workforce strategy and planning for the future. Plenty of great stories about the difference Support Staff make in the education of children and the ability of schools to function and operate on a day to day basis. Great stuff JoSee More

Photos from Support Staff seminars

Need a lesson on using technology:

Took some videos from Dunedin with some great stories on people participating in the actions last year - but no sound! Hopefully next time will be more successful.

Some photos added from the Blenheim and nelson seminars - all listed under Nelson, apologies to the Marlborough people - I am improving with these things. Jo

Children with no early childhood education will be left behind right from the start and will have real difficulties meeting the standards

The wonders of working with Support Staff

Lucky me - here I am working with another great group of Support Staff that deliver fantastic outcomes for the children that they work with - some of the stories included:

The sports co-ordinator that is employed for 15 hours per week but regularly works 25 due to the requests from teachers for support. Why does the person do it? Because otherwise the children miss out.

Started as a play centre supervisor and then did some volunteer work at the school and moved…
