Supporting Success in Education

I strongly request that ALL Support Staff members attend their Paid Union meetings that are being held over the next three weeks. These meetings are being held to ratify the settlement of the Support Staff Collective and Kaiarahi Reo Collective Agreements. being one of the negotiation team I know we achieved the best settlement we could in this financial climate. By attending your PUM's you are able to get more information and ask questions around this settlement. Have your say. Please do not send a representative it is vital that we have a 100% turnout of Support Staff.

You may have negotiated the best deal you could but its the way its being put out there as a 4% increase - why couldn't it have been advertised as 1.5% for this year, etc.  Anne Tolley thinks the National led government have done a fantastic job for support staff with a boost to our wages, good one. I

I really feel quite disheartened about the whole thing and even more undervalued than we were before.

Grateful you may be Chic it still does not get away from the fact that it is a very poor deal. Lets use some random figures. Lets say that you earn your money to feed your family. It costs $100 to feed your family and you are paid $100 a year later you get the pay rise of 1.5% inflation is running at 5% your pay goes up to $101.50 your shopping goes up to $105 a net loss of $3.50 in other words a pay CUT of $3.50. Take away also this year the 6 months loss of our pay rise that makes it 0.75% pay rise take away the $1 increase in subs 20% o the pay rise that now falls to lets say 0.15% that gives us a pay rise in $ of $0.6 which now means our pay will be $100.60 now a net loss of $4.40. Call that a well worked deal I certainly dont.

I would like to thank the negotiating team for all their hours they put in  negotiating a settlement . NOW make sure you go to your PUMS   and get full story . The team are  members just like you all and they sit and sit  hours  to get  something  for us. none of any of the sectors get all what is  in the paperwork that we would like . Im grateful for the 21 hrs a week i work  been in same school  for 31 yrs  hours go up and down  I have a family . Im paid 83cents an hour above step 8 grade B  so i wont get a  payrise  but  I get out there and protest wave banners attend annual meeting attend rallies  help at PUMS  . make sure you ALL attend your PUMS and  listen to  everything that is said. then choose how to vote  that is your right !

I hope you and the rest of the negotiating team are ready for a backlash from your members. I and many that I know are not impressed with what has been offered. It is a joke and nothing like the paperwork that you put out when we were told what you were negotiating for. Low pay is still low pay with the pathetic award that you have negotiated. I get $5 a week extra, wont even by me a beer and I work 30 hours a week. Come on get a grip on it and have a rethink before it all goes wrong for you big time. Yes you are right I am not a happy bunny.
