Supporting Success in Education
Hi everyone
I just wanted to say a big thank you to those Support Staff who were able to attend the meetings so far. I recognise that some of you are unhappy about the current settlement offer - but I am personally looking forward to supporting the new campaign about changing the funding model for Support Staff. I am very aware that Support Staff deserve a better deal - you work so hard and as professionals who make a significant difference to the teaching and learning of our children - you do deserve more. I am looking forward to getting all Support Staff, Principals, Teachers and members of our community behind a campaign that will open the door to making those big changes needed.
I would also like to take this opportunity to let you know that in Christchurch we are recreating our Support Staff Day. As you may be aware - the June quakes put a car-wash on our Support Staff Day celebrations as many schools were closed on the 15th, and those that were open, were a little pre-occupied. At the time our dinner was canceled and we have been patiently waiting for things to start looking a little brighter. The weather has certainly taken a positive turn but I know many Support Staff in Christchurch are worried about their employment and what is going to happen over the next few months. Therefore we decided to stop waiting and do something. So Support Staff Day Take 2 is going to be on Tuesday 27th September in Christchurch. This will also coincide with our re-scheduled Support Staff Dinner at the Chateau on the same night. Rumor has it that a jazz band is playing and that we will be looking so Gorgeous and Glam in our tiaras and feather boas that NOTHING is GOING TO STOP US from having some fun!!
Please wish us well - we need the smiles :)
Thank you
Tanya
